Another brick in their wall
September 22, 2007
I am not a fan of the “classroom”. What’s taught in the classroom is obsolete by the time students leave the classroom. Modern school systems use the “teach to test” motto as a means to gauge competence. This is what I like to call the competence of “memorize and regurgitate”.
Tom Peters said it best when comparing schools to prisons, people are held hostage against their own will. I feel sorry for them. Why does education have to be so dreadful when it is naturally enjoyable by all?
Children love to learn and explore, it’s in our nature until it gets knocked out of by fifth grade. The modern school system was designed by the government to suppress human creativity and create obedient cubicle slaves.
In the immortal words of Pink Floyd
“We don’t need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it’s just another brick in the wall.
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall.”
There is more to life than being another brick in their wall!
